Ross Hill Long Lunch with celebrity chef Neil Perry
raises $60,000 for the Starlight Foundation
The Ross Hill team couldn’t be more chuffed with the fantastic results of their Starlight foundation charity lunch held during Orange Food Week in April. The 200+ guests were welcomed with a glass of Ross Hill Wine and the friendly faces of the Ross Hill family mingling in the crowd. Surrounded by the farm machinery, impressive winery infrastructure and views of the newly planted vine the guests flocked in to the old apple packing shed turned Ross Hill winery adorned with 4 long communal tables.
The shared Italian style of Andy Bunn of Fratelli Fresh’s ‘magnifico’ modern take on the traditional antipasto platter with long loaves of bread torn apart and shared with friends and strangers alike, Ross Hill Olive Oil a plenty, the delectable Italian style salads set a great start to the 4 course delight.
Neil Perry’s interpretation on the classic Harry’s Café de Wheels pie, peas and mash was also a big hit with the crowd. The Ross Hill Lunch marked the first visit to Orange in several years of which Neil spoke of his fondness for the region.
With everyone feeling festively plump after 2 courses, local Real Estate Agent/Auctioneer Paul Cox did well to conduct an auction of 12 or more luxury items including a dinner for 12 at Neil Perry’s Restaurant Rockpool with $36,000 raised by the auction and additional donations pooled to write a $60,000 cheque to the Starlight Foundation.
Thank you to everyone who attended the lunch and so generously donated to this very worthy cause. We look forward to bringing you the next Long Lunch scheduled for Wine Week in October. Click here to join our email list if you’d like to be kept in the loop.
The Ross Hill @ Wallace Lane Winery Launch
30th November 2009
The very welcomed summer rain pelted the tin roof of the newly converted apple shed to create a buzz within the crowd that could have easily moved to a dance in the rain! A large turn out of friends, colleagues, local wine makers, family and wine lovers filled the barrel room over looked by the vats holding a taste of the Ross HIll Wines yet to come.
With a tasty canape by Josie Chapman in one hand and a glass of Ross Hill Wine in other, topped with the typical cheek in the speeches a well known trait of the characters that work in the "Ross Hill Family" the night couldn't have been anything other than a hit could it?
We look forward to welcoming you here soon to see it for your self!

French feast at our new winery
On a cold winter's day in June, when the sleet just didn't quite metamorphose into snow, over 100 guests joined us at the new Wallace Lane winery to enjoy an afternoon with two of the best recognised traditional Australian French Chefs; Tony Bilson and Michael Manners.
The exquisite six course French Feast was matched to the current Ross Hill range, and it was well into evening by the time we could convince the last of our guests to brace themselves and journey out into the winter weather!!
Our New Winemaker
We are very pleased that Phil Kerney has joined us as our new winemaker. Prior to coming to Wallace Lane wine company Phil was the winemaker for 7 years at Willow Creek Vineyard in the Mornington Peninsular. For those of you who are Halliday followers you will see that Phil took Willow Creek to a 5 star red rating.
In the short term David Lowe will remain as a consultant and we thank David and Jane Wilson who have produced excellent wines for Ross Hill, made the wine business fun and have become and remain good friends.
Ross Hill and Ristorante Buon Ricordo
Buon hosted a lunch at the Swiss Grand at Bondi during Taste Orange @ Bondi during September. Armando Percuocu prepared a stunning 4 course lunch for 100 guests matched with Ross Hill elegant wines.
Armando opened the lunch with a very amusing speech whilst explaining the special ingredients he uses to produce his delicious dishes.
Bistrode @ Ross Hill
The chefs for the long Ross Hill lunch in June 08 were Jeremy and Jane Strode from Bistrode in Surry Hills. Ross Hill House was packed to the rafters for this very special lunch. They are wonderful chefs with innovative ideas and carefully match the food to the ross hill wines.
