WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits

 

A beginner to intermediate level qualification exploring wines and spirits for those working in the industry or wine and spirit enthusiasts.

 

For individuals seeking a core understanding of wines, this qualification explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown. You’ll learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labelling terminology. A basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs will also be provided. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

WSET Level 1 INTENSIVE COURSE

 

Run over one day, by our WSET Certified Educator Chrissy Robson, this course aims to provide basic product knowledge and skills in the service and retail of wine to prepare a person for a job in hospitality or retail. It is also suitable for the beginner wine enthusiast and has a strong food and wine matching element.

 

Day 1
– The main styles of wine
– The characteristics of the major grape varieties
– The WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting
– Service and retailing of wine
– Matching food and wine
– Revision
– Exam

 

WSET Level 2 INTENSIVE COURSE

Run over three consecutive days, this concise course offers students with good background knowledge the opportunity to complete the course. Ideally suited to those working in the industry, but also suitable for those passionate about wine.

Day 1
– Wine Tasting, Storage of Wine and Food & Wine Pairing
– Factors Influencing Style, Quality & Price of Wine and Understanding the Label
– Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
– Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc

Day 2
– Syrah, Grenache and Riesling
– Other White Grape Varieties and White Wines + Sweet Wines
– Other Black Grape Varieties and Red Wines
– Sparkling and Fortified Wines

Day 3
– Spirits
– Revision
– Exam

WSET Level 2  – RUN OVER 9 SESSIONS
