10 Oct Spring in the Vineyard: Celebrating Early Bud Burst and Awards at Ross Hill Winery
Spring in the Vineyard: Celebrate Bud Burst and Awards at Ross Hill Winery!
Get ready to embrace the beauty of Spring as Ross Hill Winery welcomes the season with open arms! This year, the vineyard has come alive with the promise of early bud burst, thanks to a unique winter weather pattern that’s got us all excited for what’s ahead.
A Promising Start to the Growing Season
As we reflect on the past few months, it’s been a wild ride—July brought unseasonably cool temperatures, only for August to set records as the warmest on record. This dramatic shift has led to warm, moist soils, heralding an early bud burst that signals great things for the 2024 vintage. We’re thrilled that Orange has dodged the typical frosts that often threaten our harvest. Traditionally, we hold our breath until Melbourne Cup Day, but this year’s conditions have us feeling optimistic for a fruitful growing season.

Mark your calendars for an unforgettable Spring wine tasting experience at Ross Hill Winery! Dive into our award-winning selections, including the celebrated 2022 Isabelle, which has snagged the title of Best Red Blend for the second consecutive year at the Orange Wine Show. We’re also beaming with pride over our gold medal winners—the 2023 Pinnacle Chardonnay and 2022 Pinnacle Cabernet Sauvignon—which embody the quality and craftsmanship that define Ross Hill Winery. And let’s not forget our recent honour of being named Cellar Door of the Year! This recognition reflects our commitment to creating an inviting and engaging experience for our visitors, and we can’t wait for you to join us and see why!
The accolades do not stop there under the guidance of our new winemaker, Chris Jessop, we are excited about the potential of our super premium wines, including The Griffin and Eastern View Chardonnay. Chris has been doing exceptional work, and we’ve received outstanding reviews and trophies from esteemed organisations such as Winewise and Young Guns of Wine.
